LIGHTING THE CAR PARK
A new car park was inaugurated across one of the biggest malls in the United States. People find the car park as a solution to their parking problem every weekend. A week after its inauguration, a car robbery happened. The incident questioned the security capabilities of the new car park. The car park administration said that it’s an isolated incident. Car theft usually happens in car parks. But the people didn’t accept the explanation. It’s just a typical alibi. When the police conducted an investigation, they didn’t find any problem with the security. Everything was in place. The security guards were all alert and the computer systems were working. But the robbery really puzzled them because they didn’t find anything wrong. One of the investigators suggested for a review of the video recording from the CCTV camera. The recording showed that the stolen car left at 9:00 PM. However, the owner was still in the restaurant. The image of the car was zoomed in hoping that they would see the driver since the windshield is not tinted. However, they couldn’t recognize the face of the driver. An investigator pointed the lighting system of the main entrance where the CCTV was located. The area was not lighted well making it difficult for the security to see the face of the driver. The bathroom lighting of the restroom found across the main entrance has better lighting system. With this findings, the police called the attention of the administration about the lighting system in all areas where the CCTV are located. They also said that it will recommend to the court to take full responsibility of the incident.
